In their own words
You were very convincing. Right up until the evidence.
No need to shout. The secrets aren't going anywhere. Yet.
I wasn't sneaking. You were talking. There is a difference.
Where Vinnie studies the record, Mags finds the person who knows what the record left out. An elven former Whisperer, she is the Archive’s intelligence gatherer, field operative, and sharp-eyed researcher. Buried secrets have an unfortunate habit of becoming less buried after she takes an interest.
Quietly capable
Mags listens closely, notices what people conceal, and chooses exactly when to reveal what she has learned. Her quiet manner is deliberate. She is composed, curious, quick-witted, and very difficult to surprise.
She follows rumours into the field, brings leads back to the Archive, and tests an attractive explanation against the evidence. Her dry humour works at the same volume as everything else she says: just loud enough to be devastating.
The other half of the Archive
Vinnie supplies the noise. Mags supplies the observation that changes the entire story. She can arrive behind him almost unheard, undo his confident conclusion in a near-whisper, and meet the resulting performance with a deadpan look.
Bramrik distrusts anyone that quiet and sells her his best blades anyway. Picket cannot quite read her, which is an uncomfortable position for a man who appraises everything. At Fink’s observatory, she is the one asking what everyone else has missed.
Platinum-blonde hair, green eyes, swept-back pointed ears, and practical embroidered green clothing make her easy to recognise. Hearing her coming is a separate problem.
Arrives unheard. Is usually right.
