Uloth Dhampir
“You are more than just a man, yes?” Cantrii asked, feeling her excitement growing.
The bearded human stared at her for a moment before pulling a chair back from the table and nodding at it. “Take a seat,” he said and gulped from his tankard of ale.
She sat and rested her elbows on the table. Leaning forward, she studied his face. “You are the lycanthrope, Jarx?”
“Aye, lassie, I am,” he replied. “Didn't anyone ever tell you it's rude to stare?” he wiped the froth from his beard.
“I've been looking for you for a long time.” She grinned widely, exposing the long fangs in her mouth.
“Charmed, I'm sure. But why has a pretty lass like you been looking for an old dog like me?”
“We're both different from the others. We're special,” she said excitedly. “I am Cantrii du Sang, of the Uloth tribe of Anumun.”
Deep lines furrowed Jarx's brow, and he leaned toward her. “Keep your voice down, lass. Different ain't looked upon so fondly in these parts.” He glanced around the tavern. “Anyway, I've heard of you. You were born with your gifts. I was… gifted along the way.”
Cantrii sat back and crossed her arms. “We're the same, you and I. Different is good. You shouldn't hide it. People should see us and realize that, sometimes, different is better.”
Jarx's laughter was a deep drumroll that filled the tavern. “If you say so, lass. You won't hear any arguments from me. Maybe some lads here would disagree, but I reckon we could knock some sense into them, eh?”
Cantrii smiled. It was good to finally meet him. He was a nice man. As far as jade orcs go, The Uloth are quite unconventional. Unlike other tribes on Anumun, which are commonly hermitic and territorial in nature, the Uloth travel the lands and welcome outsiders. They are highly civilized and disapprove of violence, although they are not opposed to hunting wild game for subsistence or taking up arms in self-defense.
Because of the Uloth's culture of acceptance, many orc dhampir—the offspring of a female orc and a male orc infected with vampirism—choose to call the tribe their home. They look much like any other orc, although they are more slender and agile. One could even be forgiven for mistaking the sharp fangs that protrude from their jaws for the tusks of a typical orc. What gives them away is their eyes; they are a haunting, glazed yellow that holds a hint of their ancient and reviled heritage.
Like many of their tribe, the uloth dhampir are highly proficient with the hoopak, a tall stave topped with a deadly sling.
Following the Chaos Legion's arrival, the Uloth were furious at the wanton destruction of their lands. They headed for Praetoria to take up arms against the invaders.
