River Hellondale
River Hellondale watched in horror as a demonic creature with large, leathery wings swooped from the sky and glided above the treetops, heading for the river. It screeched out a violet burst of unnatural fire that engulfed their boats in a roaring inferno.
He turned to Bera Dallin, the dwarven leader of New Everitt. She gave him a meaningful look, and River set his jaw and nodded. He knew what needed to be done. With the boats gone, any chance of escape was gone along with them. He and Bera would defend the town and the villagers to their dying breaths.
With one hand, River drew his sword. With the other, he prepared a spell.
Bera drew her own sword. “For New Everitt!” she roared.
Around them, the soldiers let out a cry and clanged swords on shields. The monstrous creatures descended from the buildings and landed in the street on either side of River and his companions.
He smiled at Bera grimly. They charged into battle. River was born and raised in the city and lived on the coast his entire life. The view of the water from his bedroom window sparked his imagination as a child, and the sound of it lulled him to sleep. In time, he trained in water-based elemental magic and became an accomplished mage.
When an opportunity came to travel to Praetoria, he couldn't turn it down. Upon his arrival, his natural affinity for helping others landed him a role on New Everitt's town council. He bonded with the town's leader, Bera, and was her trusted confidant in all matters.
River felt particularly helpless when the Creeping Plague came to New Everitt. He could do nothing to help those suffering, but when the Chaos Legion arrived, he took up arms alongside Bera to defend the town he loved.
