Kulu Mastermind

The sea churned and boiled as the kulu mastermind slammed into the merfolk warrior. Tentacles wrapped around the warrior's neck, arms, and torso, while still more tentacles beat at him. The two spun through the water as they fought, sinking deeper into the murky depths.

A tentacle slid over the merfolk's gills. He reached to pull it free, but still more tentacles slid around his wrists, yanking his hands away. Another tentacle slapped him across the face once, twice, three times. He struggled and convulsed.

The Kulu Mastermind grabbed his opponent's head in his hands, forcing the warrior to meet his gaze as his tentacles squeezed tighter.

The warrior's eyes bulged. His body jerked. His mouth opened. He convulsed again and fell still.

The tentacles released their grip, and the merfolk warrior's lifeless body floated toward the surface.

The Kulu Mastermind swam on. Kulu masterminds are expert strategists and tacticians. They are found in war rooms drawing up operational plans as well as on the battlefield directing consortiums of kulu against their enemies.

They are also masters of the martial arts, harnessing the power of their bodies—including their tentacles—in both submerged and surface-based combat.
