Igor Darkspear
The sun blazed high in a clear, and cloudless sky as the little fishing vessel bobbed on the waves of the ocean. The father watched as his son reeled in the net. It had been a long day, and they'd caught enough fish, crabs, and lobster to last the week, with plenty to spare for sale at the market. After this haul, they'd head for land.
“Keep the rope taut, lad,” the father said.
His son chewed on his bottom lip as he hauled on the rope, his slim, tanned arms straining. Suddenly, the water around the rope began to bubble and churn. His son stopped, frowning.
“What is that, father?”
Before his father could reply, the water erupted in a wild spray. A figure emerged from beneath the waves. A man. He was bare chested, with blue-tinged skin and a fin running down his back. A conch hung from a leather twine around his neck. His light-green eyes were cold and filled with fury.
The figure raised a wicked spear. “You are trespassing in the waters of the Trench Dwellers,” he snarled. “The penalty is death.”
When at last Igor Darkspear disappeared into the depths of the ocean, the only sound was the lapping of water against the little fishing vessel's hull, and a smear of crimson upon the water's surface was all that remained of the hopes and dreams of father and son.
Soon, that too was gone. Igor Darkspear is the leader of an aggressive tribe known as the Trench Dwellers who patrol the depths of the ocean around the island of Praetoria. The Trench Dwellers are highly territorial and will not hesitate to kill any who trespass in their waters.
As settlers and explorers came to Praetoria, Igor grew more and more angry. His waters were being invaded by ships, fishermen, and outsiders. Igor cared not for why these people had arrived and had no sympathy for their plight. Using his powers over water, he led his tribe in coordinated attacks around the coasts. And still more outsiders came.
During one attack, Igor was approached by a strange, bird-masked man who called himself Doctor Blight. The Doctor talked of wiping the land clean and promised complete death and devastation to all who stood in the Chaos Legion's path.
Igor liked this. He aligned his tribe with the Chaos Legion to help cleanse his waters of all who would trespass. He yearns for the day when the ocean is stained red with blood.
