Ember Roast Sow
The ember roast sows are a militia unit of wild suidae from the foothills of Mount Mox, where they have lived for generations within the Mox Confederation. They began as farmers who led harvest festivals with dances marking the turning of the seasons. Over time, they turned those rhythmic movements into a martial discipline. Farm tools became weapons, dance steps became strikes. Through practice and repetition, they became agile warriors, capable of holding the line or scouting the fields they once tended.
Their nickname began as a tavern joke, poking fun at their porky roots and love of open-flame feasts. But over the years, it stuck. What was once a harvest punchline now appears in battle reports and border watch logs across the confederation.
They dye their bristly fur in bold colors and shape it into striking manes, a tradition carried over from festival days, now meant to unnerve enemies in battle. Although the confederation values neutrality, the ember roast sows remain vigilant. They patrol the roads and farmlands that feed their people. Their tools may have changed, but their duty to defend the land has never wavered.
