Careless Badger
Scholars call it the most fearless animal in Praetoria. The careless badger earned that reputation the hard way: by charging headfirst into situations that would send wiser creatures running.
Watch one hunt. It doesn't care about the snake in the tree or the jackals circling nearby. Hungry means hungry. It digs, grunts, and eats whatever it finds. Larvae from a hive full of angry bees? No problem. The badger endures a thousand stings because it wants what's inside.
Other animals learned to wait until the careless badger finishes. Birds swoop in for scraps. Jackals dart in for leftovers. Why do the dangerous work when the badger will do it for you?
At night, the careless badger hunts bigger prey. A king cobra strikes, venom pumping through its bite even as the badger kills it. The badger staggers, collapses, and lies still for a few minutes while the poison courses through its body.
Then it wakes up and finishes eating the cobra.
That thick hide, that relentless hunger, that complete disregard for consequences. They're what makes the careless badger nearly unstoppable. It doesn't plan. It doesn't worry. When it's hungry, it acts.
Everything else is just details.
